Edwin R. Everitt, 83, of Ocean Grove, formerly of Clifton, died Monday January 9 in Ocean Grove, after a long illness. Ed grew up in Totowa, the son of Walter and Elsie Kogelman Everitt, graduating from Paterson Westside High School. He worked for more than 45 years for Passaic County, as Deputy Surrogate and Chief Clerk in the Surrogates Court where he helped countless families, attorneys and judges navigate the intricacies of executing a will in the county. Singled out by then Representative Robert Roe for his public service, he was more particularly a devoted family man. Mr. Everitt was a United States Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War. He and Dorothy and their family lived in Clifton for 50 years, before moving to Ocean Grove in 2010. He was a beloved husband to Dorothy Burkart for nearly 52 years and devoted father to Pamela Iozia of Hewitt, NJ and Marjorie Everitt of Ocean Grove and loving grand father to his 2 grand children, Shannon Bradley and Joseph P. Bradley and his great grand child Micaela. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM and Friday from 10:00 AM until services begining at 11:00 at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove.
