Leann Bergen


Leeann Bergen, nee Karnai, 56, of Asbury Park passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Cooper University Hospital with family by her side.  Born July 14, 1961 in Elizabeth, to John and Margaret Karnai. Leeann attended St. Mary’s Grammar School and Rahway High School along with siblings Michael, Debbie and Cheryl. Leeann spent her summers at the beach and her winters hoping for warmer weather. She was an avid gardener, animal lover, sewer and reader.  Leeann is survived by her daughter’s Ashley and Danielle. She is predeceased by John, Margaret, Michael, Debbie and Cheryl. She will happily be joining Cassidy, Yukon, Hannah, Murphy and Princess Fluffy.  A Memorial Gathering will be held on Monday evening, February 20, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove. Jean A. Dabler

Jean A. Dabler, 95, of Ocean Grove, died Friday February 10, 2017 at home. She had worked as a secretary for Standard Keil Hardware in Allenwood. Then she worked for the Ocean Grove Tourism Bureau for 20 years. Mrs. Dabler served with the WAVEs in the United States Navy during World War II. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Ocean Grove, was a volunteer at the church food pantry and served as president of the Neptune Township Woman’s Club. Born in East Orange, she lived in Belleville attending elementary and high school there before moving to Ocean Grove in 1965. She was predeceased by her husband Robert E. Dabler in 1981. Surviving is her daughter Robin E. Dabler, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Relatives and friends may call on Sunday from 2:00 - 5:00 PM at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 12 Noon at the funeral home with interment following at Hamilton Methodist Cemetery, Neptune. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Mary’s Place by the Sea, 22 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove, NJ 07756 would be appreciated.

Raymond Olson


Raymond Olson, 82, of Ocean Grove, passed away on Wednesday, January 25th, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. He was born in Briarcliff Manor, NY, and grew up in the suburbs of Albany, NY before going on his honeymoon to Ocean Grove where he lived with his family for the rest of his life. He worked as a school bus driver for more than 30 years until his retirement. He was an active member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Ocean Grove. He drove the church van bringing church members to and from the Sunday worship service. He had a deep appreciation for Ocean Grove and a passion for taking daily walks on the boardwalk throughout the year. He was a devoted fan of the NY Mets and the NY Giants. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Surviving are his beloved wife of 52 years, Jeanette, his son, Raymond, Jr. and his wife, Ruth, and his daughter, Connie Robinson, and her husband, Joe, and two grandchildren, Logan Robinson, and Joey Robinson, his wife, Maria, and his great grandson, Oliver Robinson. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, February 2nd, from noon to 2pm for visitation and a funeral service beginning at 2pm at Ocean Grove Memorial Home 118 Avenue St in Ocean Grove. Internment will follow at Monmouth Memorial Park in Tinton Falls. Donations can be made in his memory to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Ocean Grove.

David O. Douglas


David Donald Douglas, 60, of Ocean Grove died January 5, 2017.  David had been the owner of Dave’s Hobby Shop and a member of  St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, both in Ocean Grove. He also volunteered for the Ocean Grove Citizen Patrol. David was predeceased by his parents, Benjamin and Florence Douglas.  Surviving are his brother  Wayne, his cousins, Carol and Jay Stigelman and Larry and Ann Bostick, his devoted caretakers and loving friends, Derek and Elaine Parish and many friends and fellow members of St. Paul’s who helped him along his way. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 80 Embury Avenue, Ocean Grove on Tuesday January 17 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the St. Paul’s Angel fund or the Ocean Grove Citizens Patrol would be appreciated.
